The Open Booth: Where It All Began

In 2007—before The Photo Bus existed—our founders built a photo booth from scratch using random gear, wires, and studio equipment for a friend’s wedding. That DIY setup became the foundation for years of high-quality photo booth experiences.

Today, our latest Open Booth is an evolution of that original concept, featuring a stylish wood enclosure, top-tier photography equipment, and expert craftsmanship—delivering exceptionally high-quality photos.

  • The Open Booth is strictly an indoor booth. However, we may be able to make exceptions for covered outdoor areas, enclosed tents, or protected spaces. The main concern is wind, followed by rain. Even with proper securing, our backdrops can become hazardous or damaged by a slight breeze. If your event is entirely outdoors, we recommend the GIF Booth or Photo Bus as better options.

  • No, setup time is free. We arrive approximately 30–60 minutes before your requested start time, and teardown takes about 30 minutes. We recommend booking for the full duration of your event so that setup and teardown don’t occur while guests are present.

  • The required space depends on the backdrop you choose, as some are wider than others. As a general guideline, we need about 11' x 11', but with certain backdrops, our footprint can be as small as 7.75' (width) x 6' (depth).

  • Yes! All Open Booth packages include unlimited on-site printing. Even better—each person in the photo receives a copy of their picture.

  • Absolutely! While we always include The Photo Bus logo at the bottom, we also customize prints for your event—whether it's a wedding, birthday, fundraiser, or just for fun. We love creating lasting memories and are happy to design something special for you. See some examples above.

  • Yes! Every Open Booth package includes a background. We also offer custom-branded backgrounds featuring your logo or fully custom-printed options to match your event’s theme. Check out our standard free background options HERE.

  • Pricing depends on the number of hours, day of the week, and the season. Contact us for an exact quote for your event date. Every package includes unlimited prints, an on-site attendant, props, a custom print design, and your choice of background.

  • Yes! The Photo Bus serves events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area at no extra charge. If your event is outside DFW, contact us to discuss availability. We also have The Photo Bus KC (our parent company in Kansas City), plus affiliates in Austin and St. Louis.
